The Mission at Westhope is finding its feet. We have begun reaching out to a variety of places in our world to embody Christ’s love. We are making an effort to not just tell about Christ’s love but to live it for all of our neighbors...whoever they might be.
During Lent we took a special offering to purchase animals through Heifer Project. We reached our goal of $500 to buy a whole list of animals to be given to those in need through the Project.
In September we sorted food at Second Harvest and participated in a day working with Habitat for Humanity. It was a great day of pounding nails, cutting siding, and working side by side with brothers and sisters for the good of the community.
We have continued our outreach to the Commercial Street Inn as we work to provide meals for the women and children in that program. Come join us to cook or to serve!
In January we ran a coat and clothing drive for the InnVision shelter. At the end of the month we took a truck full of boxes of clothes and jackets to our brothers and sisters at the shelter.
May 16th a group went down to Second Harvest Food Bank to continue our relationship with them and to sort through canned goods to be handed out to those who are hungry. It was a fantastic time of service and fellowship!
During the season of Lent we ran a special offering for the Heifer project and the congregation responded incredibly well, offering $557 to purchase animals for those who need them through this project. Possibly more amazingly we found a matching grant that doubled that money!! God is good!!
The Goodie Bag project is an amazing outreach to shelters and convalescent homes.

Our mission giving goes to the PCUSA general fund, seminary support, the Rhino project in New Orleans, PCUSA general disaster relief, and a missionary in the Cameroon.
On March 7th our congregation went to the Commercial Street Inn to serve a meal for 60 that we had prepared. We had great fellowship and were fed just as much as those who attended- spiritually as well as physically.
